What I didn’t love: I loved everything about it.īestselling author and cultural icon Roxane Gay is no stranger to trauma. What I loved: I loved her bluntness, to say something as it is, which I believe was something she had to cultivate. I loved it.Īs someone who planned to read books by Roxane, I feel like this was a nice segue for me to do so, can’t wait to read her other works. This book I believe, was to shine a light on trauma from others, society, ourselves, but also to show that there is still hope, we all deal with trauma, but we will get through it (keyword is through here not over). Some people’s response that she highlighted in this book was shocking to me, and honestly sad that people with their own insecurities, and traumas would choose to lash out at someone who shared theirs. It is difficult to talk about pain and trauma, but Roxane Gay writes it in such a way that…. Overall: This book was written after the book “Hunger” (I am yet to read it), and after reading this I want to read it even more.
